Christopher COULSON, b.1817, Scarborough, Yorkshire, d. 1904, Merino, Vic., son of Francis COULSON and Ann COATES was married in 1841 at St Mary's Church, Scarborough, Yorkshire, England to Mary STUBBS b. 1818, Snaiton, Yorkshire, daughter of George STUBBS and Amy OLIVER. Mary d. 1887 at Merino, Victoria. Christopher worked from 1842 to 1856 as a groom at The Royal Mews, Buckingham Palace, London.

In 1856 Christopher, Mary and their four children sailed from Plymouth on the "General Hewitt" and landed at Portland, Victoria on 9 Oct 1856. Christopher spent a number of years at "Rifle Downs" and "Ardachy" stations near Digby as Stud Groom where their last child Georgiana was born and died aged 5 years.

Christopher selected land at Dwyer's Creek, near Merino where they built a house "Rosebank" and grew wool for a number of years.
